Home Tour

-UPDATE: I have added the before pictures! Had the realtor send them over to me.

I have had a lot of people ask me to post pictures of the inside of our house. Especially family who do not live near OKC. For a long time I saved the "before" pictures I took when we closed on our house to show all of the progress (since some rooms were a pretty big transformation), but I searched through every file on every electronic device I own yesterday and I still could not find them. I'm heartbroken because I was so excited to show the transformation, but I am still eager to show some progress we have made.

First, we will start with pictures of the living room. When we moved in the walls were a dark yellow color and the fireplace was black and shed this soot-like stuff. Paisley would get her paws in it and then walk all over the house. IT.WAS.A.NIGHTMARE. So we painted this room first, and eventually did a high heat paint for the fireplace to make it a clean white color.

Living Room- BEFORE...
Living Room- AFTER...

I am really not a fan of the coffee table, but I haven't gotten around to replacing it. Eventually...

All of the wood floors in the house (with the exception of the kitchen) are original to the home. Which I love! It creaks and it's scratched, but to me it has so much character!

The media console belonged to Trevor's grandmother. We love the way it compliments our living room!

Our front door is one of my favorite things. I didn't love it when we bought the house but I love the solid wood door look now.

Dining Room- BEFORE...

Dining Room- AFTER...

Next, the dining room. I was tickled to receive my great grandmother's Mahogany Duncan Fife table. I know that many members of my family also treasure this antique and I feel so blessed to display it in our home. I recovered the chairs a navy and cream stripe fabric with some gold stitching.

Another fun thing to note: Trevor and I had been eyeing that light fixture since before the house was even ours. At the time we were not ready to spend the money on it, so it just went onto our wish list. One morning we were out and I asked him if he wouldn't mind going into a second hand store with me (it's not really his thing). The store was full of JUNK. And it smelled awful. We decided to walk through it anyways so we didn't come off rude to the store owners. We saw this box that had a picture of the lighting fixture on it and tried not to get too excited. It could have just been a box full of junk, right? So we open it up and it was the fixture still wrapped up, brand new! For less than half the retail price!

Still working on dressing up this bar cart...

Kitchen- BEFORE...

Kitchen- AFTER...

Ok, so this kitchen... First of all, remember I said these are PROGRESS pictures. In the midst of planning a wedding the kitchen has been put off a little longer. But we have big plans and I have no doubt I will want to live in the kitchen when it is done.

Office- BEFORE...

Office- AFTER...

Next, the office. I actually LOVE the office. Trevor and I each have our own space and the room gets a ton of natural light.

Obviously we aren't keeping the folding chairs. We are just torn at what kind of chairs we want. Stuck between ghost chairs or upholstered chairs. Decisions, decisions.

We love the access to the backyard from this room. Whether I'm sewing or working on something, or Trevor is busy in the office, we can let the dogs in and out without walking across the house.

The guest room is right off of the office. It is our "catch-all" for the time being. We haven't given it the same amount of attention as the other rooms, but eventually it will be done. This room has had the biggest transformation of all the rooms so far.

Guest Room- AFTER...

See, no headboard or anything... but we will get there.

We are really wanting to get this beautiful wardrobe out of my parents garage and paint it for this room. My mom says it's a piece of junk but I think with a little TLC it will be perfect.

Trevor and I have pictures from vacations we've taken together in the hallway.

This is a vintage sewing table from Trevor's grandparents. It came all the way from California this year. I love it!

This will eventually be a collage wall but I haven't gotten around to organizing it. Updates to come!

The bathroom is the only room in the house that has not been painted, but that will change soon enough.

This will also be receiving a small renovation for functionality purposes.

 Master- BEFORE...

Master- AFTER...

Our bedroom was just painted two weeks ago and I am so happy with how it turned out. For awhile, it was the only room in the house we had paid no attention to. One of my favorite things is the french doors leading to the backyard. Makes it super easy to let the dogs out in the morning when I am half asleep!

I will post more pictures as we update more!

  2. It's beautiful, Katy! It looks like it should be in a magazine. Y'all have done such a great job renovating and even the rooms that haven't been renovated yet are simply beautiful. You are blessed with the talent of decorating.
